Hello Hydrangeas

Peony season may be over but is definitely a case of Hello Hydrangeas as we enter the new season. And oh how gorgeous are they. Big Blowsy Blooms that are full of colour and vibrancy and can look stunning as just a single bloom on its own or a cornucopia of the beauties in a pedestal arrangement. Not much wonder they are a classic for weddings and events!

They are however incredibly thirsty flowers so need a bit of extra TLC to maximise their gorgeousness for as long as possible. Here’s our top tips for keeping them stunning

1: Cut stems at a sharp 45 degree angle … it’s what you should do to every flower or foliage stem but crucial for Hydrangea. Don’t ever smash the stems!

2. Put the stems in tepid water immediately – don’t let them dry out

3. Hydrangeas take water through their petals so mist them every day – not a blast – just a gentle spray.

4. If the flowers start to wilt, give them a shock and dunk their whole head into tepid water – leave for around 30 mins … longer if seriously wilted.
