Colonnade Florist has been the local flower expert in Tunbridge Wells for more than 14 years. It is owned and run by Sharon Wood, a Chelsea Flower Gold Medal Winner and Florist of the Year Finalist with more than 30 years’ experience.
Sharon has loved flowers ever since she received her first bunch of freesias at the age of 13. Her aim is to share her passion and help people get as much enjoyment from them as she does. Established in 1996 Thistles florist was originally in a High Street location. In order to offer a more bespoke service the business is now run from my home studio which allows more flexibility to my clients and I can offer home visits and out of hour’s consultations. Clients are welcome to visit my studio in Ashtead to talk through their requirements by appointment or orders can be placed on my website or by telephone. Even after many years in the industry it is important to me to keep up with new varieties & trends and offer my clients the best quality products and produce designs to the highest standard. I am a perfectionist and passionate about Floristry. I like to use British Flowers and foliage where possible and compost all my green waste and all my cardboard packing is recycled. Clients will often ask me to include plant material from their own garden in a design, which I am happy to do as it allows my work to be different; I will often add something from my own garden or pick grasses to give my work a quirky twist to stand out from the crowd.

We use fresh flowers which are delivered at least 4 days a week from Holland and we also support English Flower Growers where possible. The visual application of design, the understanding and appreciation of shape, colour, tones and textures, and the ability to explore, evolve and adapt client’s briefs and ideas, combined with my love of flowers is what has enabled me to build and maintain a successful business within the world of floristry. Bespoke floral tributes, weddings, luxury bouquets and arrangements for all occasions are all handmade, personalised and tailored to reflect each individual customer’s requirements. All completed gift work is then finished off with our locally renowned, trademark ladybird which sees happy customers regularly returning in order to add to their collection!
