Great Glen,

Leicestershire

My love of flowers started at a young age with being involved with Young Farmers Floral Art Competitions in which I progressed in numerous years from County to National level to compete against Young Farmers from across the Country. I went on to train at De Montfort University, Riseholme, Lincoln and gained a National Diploma in Floristry and then a Higher National Diploma in Floristry Management & Interior Styling. During various work experiences, I worked in Roundhay, Leeds and also in West Hampstead, London as the tutors liked to send students as far and wide as possible. After finishing my studies, I worked in London for a while. But missing the green fields of Leicestershire I came back to my home county and bought a flower shop which I owned for 6 years in the picturesque town of Uppingham, Rutland. Now I work from a workshop near Market Harborough concentrating more on the Wedding, Party and Sympathy side of floristry. Although having a shop was great and gave an immediate shop window for my work, being freelance gives me more time at each event and allows me to concentrate in the job in hand. I also only take on what I can manage in a weekend, and so will rarely take more than one event on one day. There are a number of beautiful venues across Leicestershire that I have decorated, please check out the wedding pages of my website for some examples.

Aylesbury,

Buckinghamshire

At The Flower House we are passionate about providing stunning flowers to Aylesbury and the surrounding areas. Having grown up spending a lot of time in my parents florist shop, surrounded by flowers and inspiration I have now decided to introduce my passion and love for floristry to Buckinghamshire. I lived and grew up in North London and worked for my parents from the age of 15. Being taught first hand by my mother (one of the top floristry designers in the country) and attending Capel Manor College for 3 years to achieve my NVQ Level 3 – I learnt to put my own flair into my designs too. Helping run the family business inspired me to start my own from home. Buckinghamshire is now my home town with my growing family, husband Ashley and our two wonderful children. My family are a big part of The Flower House…..they are the reason it began. I like to think I can bring a lot of joy and happiness through my designs, with weddings, memories of a loved one or a simple hand tied bouquet just to say thank you. My most favourite part of designing flowers for such events is meeting the customers, collaborating with brides and helping bring their vision alive for their big day. Meeting families and helping put that very special touch to their goodbyes, and just being me. Being passionate about what I do and ultimately delivering the best service and building a good, reliable relationship with all my customers. Kerrie x

Ambleside,

Cumbria

The 13th of September 2013 was when LilyLou’s of Ambleside opened, but this wasn’t the start of the journey for owner Joanne Dann. Originally from Cheshire, Joanne’s journey started as a trainee florist in 1986 with her gaining City & Guilds at the Welsh college of horticulture and working her way up the floral ladder up until she moved to the Lake District in 2006. Named after her daughter Lily Lousia, Joanne decided to open her own florist in Ambleside, originally it was a small location on St Mary’s Lane, but after the business went from strength to strength, the shop required more space and then in May 2019, LilyLou’s relocated to a larger premises just around the corner. The new premises has a large bespoke walk-in refrigerated unit to keep all of the flowers at a regulated temperature, double fronted window areas for larger displays and a good-sized work area for the expanding work load and to accommodate her fellow colleague’s. Joanne’s passion for floristry saw her gain her a first in a Batchelor of Arts in floral art at Myerscough College and she encourages her fellow colleagues to continue their knowledge of the industry. Also, Joanne has a passion for the environment and shows this by trying to be more sustainable within the business by trying to ensure that as much of the packaging and product’s used is either recyclable, bio-degradable or made from recycled products. The next step is an electric vehicle. Everyone at LilyLou’s is proud to be accepted into the Good Florist Guide.
